Daughter of the Moon Goddess
To continue with my recommendations on 2022 Debuts, I bring you Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan. This is described as a fantasy novel based on “the legend of Chang’e, the Chinese moon goddess, in which a young woman’s quest to free her mother pits her against the most powerful immortal in the realm”.
I had my eyes set on this book for quite a while and I can’t wait for publishing day. Something to bear in mind is that this book comes out on the 11th of January in the US and the 20th of January in the UK. So, in my case there will be a little more waiting until I can read it, so be careful with the spoilers!
So, this book is the first one in The Celestial Kingdom Duology and I feel like we’re in for a ride. The novel’s protagonist is Xingyin, a girl used to loneliness since she grew up on the moon after her mother was exiled for stealing the Celestial Emperor’s elixir of immortality. After fleeing her home, she enters the Celestial Kingdom where she will master archery and magic with the help of no other than the emperor’s son. This seems the perfect mix for chaos, and catastrophe and I couldn’t be more excited for it.
